Royal Hurlburt Weller

Royal Hurlburt Weller ( born July 2, 1881 in New York City; † March 1, 1929 ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Royal Hurlburt Weller attended public schools and the City College of New York. In 1901, he graduated from New York Law School. After receiving his license to practice law in 1902, he began practicing in New York City. In 1911 he became deputy district attorney in Manhattan - a post he held until 1917. He then worked as a lawyer again. He was active in 1918 and 1919 as Counsel of the Alien Property Custodian. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1922 for the 68th Congress Weller was in the 21st electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Martin C. Ansorge on March 4, 1923. He was re-elected three times in a row, however, died before the end of his third term. His body was interred in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
