Royal League 2004–05

The Royal League 2004/ 05 was the first season of the newly created football competition for club teams and took place between November 11 2004 and 26 May 2005. The winner was FC Copenhagen from Denmark that could prevail in the final 12:11 in a penalty shootout against IFK Gothenburg in Sweden.

Mode

The twelve teams, four from the Danish Superliga, the Norwegian Tippeligaen, Swedish Fotbollsallsvenskan, were initially divided into three groups with return game against each other, the two best teams from each group were qualified for a second group phase in the two groups each with three clubs, the two finalists were determined. In the final game time was set to 90 minutes and there was no extension, but immediately the penalty shootout held at a tie.

Average attendance

Average were 5514 spectators ( including the final ) to the games. In the countries of Denmark led with an average attendance of 7719 per game ahead of Norway ( 5277 ) and Sweden ( 3559).
