Royal Mail Ship

Royal Mail Ship ( or Steamer), mostly abbreviated RMS or RMS, is prefixed to the name of the ship of all ships carrying the mail of the British Royal Mail. The abbreviation is used since 1840. The Cunard Line was the biggest Postverschiffer, all their ships carried this name prefix; the RMS Titanic led this addition. In the 20th century, air mail, the mail transport by ship largely displaced. Last post passenger boats ply the Atlantic, for example, the RMS St. Helena, which serves the island of St. Helena with mail or the RMS Queen Mary 2, which is known primarily as a passenger ship.
