Royal Military College Duntroon

The Royal Military College Duntroon (RMC ) is a military academy in the Australian capital Canberra. It is located in the Campbell district at the foot of Mount Pleasant. The aim of training is to prepare cadets and other selected candidates for a career as an army officer.

The decor was by William Humble Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley, the then Governor-General opened on 27 June 1911. It was built on the site of the former homestead Duntroon, which is named after the castle Duntrune Castle in Argyll (Scotland). First commander was General William Throsby Bridges later. He had selected the site itself and built the institution modeled after the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on. 1997-1999 Peter Cosgrove was commander of the College.
