History
The observatory was founded in 1828 by Adolphe Quetelet. Before the Second World War, the observatory had a telescope with a 1 meter mirror, identical to the Hamburg Observatory. During the war, but it was lost and was replaced in 1958 by a Schmidt camera with an aperture of 84 cm.
Since 1981 is the Solar Influences Data Analysis Center, World Data Center for the sunspot relative number.
