Roza Bal

Roza Bal is the name of a shrine, which is located in Khanyar Street in the district Khanyar of Srinagar in Kashmir, India. The shrine contains the tombs of two Muslim saints - Yuz Asaf and Mir Sayyid Naseeruddin, a descendant of Musa al - Kazim.

Building

The tomb itself consists of a rectangular building on a low elevation, surrounded by railings at the front. It has three arches at the front, where it may be entered, and four arches on the side. Inside is a stone carving, which is said that it shows feet with crucifixion painting. The body is buried facing the Jewish tradition, and not according to the rules of Islam. But the building also houses the tomb of a local Muslim saint, Mir Sayyid Naseeruddin, who was buried in accordance with Islamic directions.

Yuz Asaf

In Persian, is identified in the history of Kashmir on the sanctuary as the grave of a foreign prince: Yuzasaf. Yuzasaf is an Arabic name for Siddhartha in the Arabic version of the legend of Barlaam and Josaphat - Balahwir wa - Yuzasaf. In 1899, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad identified Yuz Asaf these as Jesus of Nazareth, from the Ahmad believed he had reached Kashmir, after he had survived his crucifixion.

Mir Sayyid Naseeruddin

Thriller and BBC documentary

In recent times, a fictional thriller by Ashwin Sanghi entitled The Rozabal Line has popularized the idea that the crucifixion of Jesus could have possibly survived, traveled to India and may have been buried in Kashmir, leaving a lineage in the region.

In 2003, the BBC beamed from a documentary that included a section on the history of Yuz Asaf. The title was: " Did Jesus Die? " ( " Jesus Died ").

Work is in progress to obtain DNA from the grave to determine the identity and / or eras of men buried there as well as claims on their offspring.
