Rozdolne

Rosdolne (Ukrainian Роздольне; Russian Раздольное / Rasdolnoje, Crimean Tatar Aqşeyh ) is an urban-type settlement in the north of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine with 7,800 inhabitants ( 2013). Rosdolne is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Geographical location

Rosdolne located 7 km to the Black Sea coast, 124 km north of the capital of Crimea, Simferopol and 60 km southwest of Armjansk.

History

The village was first mentioned with the former, Tatar name Aqşeyh in 1784. According to the second exodus of the Crimean Tatars in the 1850s and 1860s, the village was settled by German colonists from the Swabian colonies in Berdyansk, which mainly operated sheep breeding and agriculture. This called the village then analogous to the Russified version Ak-Scheich/Akscheich or German - Akscheich.

Shortly after the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the German population was deported on August 18, 1941, first in the Stavropol region, and then to Siberia and into northern Kazakhstan. Of 30 October 1941 to 13 April 1944, the village by troops of the Wehrmacht was occupied.

In connection with the deportation of the Crimean Tatars from the Crimea, the village was in 1944 by Akscheich (Russian Акшейх ) in Rasdolnoje / Rosdolne renamed. Since 1960 the town has the status of an urban-type settlement.

Rosdolne is the administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons. The Rajon Rosdolne is located in the northern part of the Crimean peninsula on the Karkinitska Bay of the Black Sea. It has 34,400 inhabitants and an area of 1231 km ². The population density is 28 inhabitants per km ².
