R & R Ice Cream Germany GmbH, formerly Roncadin GmbH, is an ice cream manufacturer and subsidiary of the UK R & R Ice Cream Group.

The company produces and sells both classic and unusual ice shapes and recipes with an annual production capacity in Europe of 620 million liters of ice cream. In addition to trademarks are owned and licensed brands on the product range, such as the love of ice cream for FrieslandCampina Germany and the ice cream versions of the chocolate bar brands of Mars Inc. ( Mars, Bounty, Twix ). Is produced at plants in Germany, England, France and Poland. The company has a total of 68 filling lines.

The company's headquarters is Osnabrück and Leeming Bar (England). The company employs approximately 1,520 employees, including 890 employees in Germany.

History

Regina Roncadin, an Italian, opened in 1932 their first ice cream shop in Osnabrück. Her nephew Edoardo Roncadin took over the ice cream shop in 1964 and opened another branch in Münster in the same year. In 1970 he founded a chain of ice cream parlors in Germany. To meet the demand for ice, was in 1982 a production facility in Osnabrück. In 1997 it published in France 's acquisition of Girki and the subsequent founding of Roncadin SA. In 2000 Roncadin took over the Dr. Oetker Ice Creams and thus completed the entrance to the German consumer products business.

Jonathan Ropner, a farmer in Yorkshire, England, took over 1985 local ice cream Cardosi and founded Richmond Foods. In England took place in 1998, the merger with Treats Group Plc. and a year later the acquisition of Allied Frozen Foods.

In 2004, Zielona Budka Roncadin took over in Poland, England Richmond bought the company De Roma. 2005 Roncadin was acquired by US -based investment fund Oaktree Capital Management. In 2006 Roncadin took over the ice-cream division of North Milch eG. In the same year Oaktree Capital Richmond took Foods to merge with Roncadin.

2007, the two sister companies Roncadin and Richmond were merged Foods and bear the common name of R & R Ice Cream.

In the spring of 2013, Oaktree sold the R & R Icecream Group to the French private equity fund PAI partners.
