RS Puppis (or shortened RS Pup ) is a Cepheid in the constellation Puppis or aft deck of the ship.

Due to its location in an extended nebula, scientists using ESO 's New Technology Telescope at La Silla Observatory succeeded his removal geometrically determined from the light echoes in the mist. The distance is 6500 ± 90 light years. It is one of the most accurate distance measurements of Cepheids, which is significant, since Cepheids are in turn used to determine the distance of objects near them.
