History

The long road to independence

On August 7, 1954, the RSC Cronenberg was founded in Wuppertal south by from Cronenberger SC, a multi-sports club from Wuppertal, breaking away to finally be independent. At the time about 20 years there have been a roller hockey club in Cronenberg, the Cronenberger TG ( CTG). Among the founding members was Alfred Henckels, the Alfred - Henckels -Halle gave its name. In the first year about 110 skaters were at the club.

The rapid and very positive development was largely made possible by Henckels. He was already 18 years old founding member of the Elberfelder rolling and skating association. However, his first success and experience he gained long before the foundation of the RSC when ice and roller sports club Remscheid, then moved in 1932 to the CTG.

In 1955 came the first clashes with the Roller Hockey Association, as it did not recognize the slanted playing surface of the Lenz Hauser schoolyard as a playing field. Thus, an own railway was built in 1957, later followed cabins, showers and toilets. The construction of this new train youth members got the RSC in one night about 20.

In 1963, the youth team qualified for the first time for the German championship. Henckels responded and bought his team better game material. The RSC was third. Already there were other plans: A floodlight was built in 1972 followed by a canopy.

Since 1962, then it went to the first team up. With coach Siegfried Siebel promotion to the premier league, three years afterwards to rise again. From now on the roller hockey league sat down as a goal. The one reached on 5 November 1972 at 12:18 clock. The team led by Gerd Richter, Ulrich friend, Ulrich Bielau, Horst Henckels, Dietmar Schwieren, Manfred Koppe, Peter Stroucken and Jörg Dombeck was celebrated by over 700 spectators. The year also was one of the most successful of the whole story: The second team was relegated to Oberliga, the juniors were German champions, Gaby Niessen was city and state champion in figure skating.

For the first time German champion

After the re-emergence in 1974 they remained until today in the House of Lords. The beginning of the Cronenberger success story can be seen in 1980, when the first German Championship was won. At that time, the RSC Darmstadt, the team defeated by Schwieder, Colonel, Kühn, Gillesen, Furmanek, Bienefeld, Peter Kuhn, Peter Renner, Treml, Klaus Rupsch and Dirk main, in an outstanding game with 6:1. Since then, a total of twelve more championship titles won and nine cup victories are celebrated. Since 1996, only took four seasons ( 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2013) without a title.

The number of national league and cup victories and international performances in the Champions League are in the city very well received. Instance, in 2010 the club was awarded the Wuppertal club of the year, in the selfsame year coach Steup received the award Wuppertal's Coach of the Year.
