RSE Kriens (Missile)

The missile RSE Kriens was developed in Switzerland to-air missile, which was never produced in series. Kriens stands for the town of Kriens in Lucerne.

History

From 1959 to 1966 Contraves developed along with many other Swiss companies the missile RSE Kriens. Oerlikon was able to draw on the experience of the missile system RSC / D. The missile RSE Kriens was funded by the Swiss industry and the federal government and developed to the production stage. The first flight was on 23 March 1964. 's Most advanced technology modular system used for soil systems and guided weapons. The whole system could be connected to a multi-part cluster that included several radars and missile launchers. After introduction of the BL -64 Bloodhound, the project was canceled by the EMD. For export, the system was given the name Micon instead of Kriens. It was never produced in series, neither Switzerland nor for another state. A launcher with two missiles is now at the Aviator Flab Museum Dübendorf. Contraves used the experience gained for the sounding rocket Zenit.

The fire unit consists of: measuring radar, tracking devices 1-3, 4 launchers, command vehicle, equipment cart and several units (generators). Equipment cart, command car, transmitter and transmission units were housed individually on single-axle trailers, the measuring radar and missile launchers on each two-axle trailers.
