Ferry

The road between Fauske and Røsvik was completed in 1932 and is still regarded as N826 (Norwegian Riksvei 826 ) in use. In April 1941, a ferry crossing between Røsvik and Bonåsjøen as part of the former N50 (Norwegian Riksvei 50) between Fauske and Narvik was put into operation. As 1966, the road between Straumen and Sommerset, today E6 was opened, the ferry route was shortened to the distance between Sommerset and Bonåsjøen. From 1964 also drove a ferry between Røsvik and Nordfold in crates. The ferry was shut down with the opening of the eight- km long Steigentunnelens in 1991.

The ferry dock and the waiting room in Røsvik have been proposed for the National Plan for the maintenance of roads, bridges and road-related cultural monuments ( Bruer above vegrelaterte Kulturminner Norwegian Nasjonal verne plan for veger, ).
