RTÉ Radio 1

RTÉ Radio 1 is the principal radio program of the Irish public radio Telefís Éireann ( RTÉ ) and is the direct successor of the Dublin radio station 2RN, who received the regular broadcast of his program on 1 January 1926.

The transmitter 6CK, an offshoot of 2RN in Cork, united with the Dublin stations 1927 and 1932, a broadcast station in Athlone ( County Westmeath ) in operation. From then on, the three stations as Radio Athlone became known and were 1937 in Radio Éireann ( "Irish broadcasting" ) renamed.
