RTL9

RTL9 (originally Télé Luxembourg) is a French-language television station. It was broadcast in analogue terrestrial in Luxembourg and Lorraine. The station was founded in 1955 and is Europe's second commercial channel. The current owners are 65 percent the AB Groupe and 35 percent of the RTL Group.

History

The first broadcast took place on January 23, 1955 under the name Télé Luxembourg. The station has produced over regional broadcasting formats for Luxembourg, Lorraine and Belgium. In 1982, the station renamed and became RTL Télévision. Five years later, was incorporated in 1987 with a Belgian TV channel RTL TVI at the start. RTL Télévision was now responsible only for Luxembourg and Lorraine. Four years later took in 1991 with RTL Hei Eley, today's RTL Télé Luxemburg, the first time a television channel in Luxembourg language broadcasting on. In the same year, RTL Télévision changed his name to RTL TV and became the regional station for Lorraine.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the station was renamed again in 1995 and since then is called RTL9. In 1997 RTL9 no longer considered viable by the RTL Group. Accordingly, in December 1997, almost all employees were laid off and sold a share of 65 percent of the transmitter to the AB Groupe in March 1998. This assessment proved to be false. RTL9 was after the acquisition over a long period of time, the most-watched pay TV program in France.

In the jubilee year 2005 of the 50th anniversary of RTL9 received a license for a nationwide unencrypted DVB-T distribution in France. Thus RTL9 remained only in Luxembourg and Lorraine unscrambled. The analog transmission mode in Secam on channel 21 was discontinued in June 2010. On the same channel now sends a regional station for Lorraine air TV in digital form ( DVB -T). The creators are the same who had previously produced the regional program of RTL 9 for Lorraine, Jean -Luc Bertrand and Maryleen Bergman. Production takes place in Metz.

The DVB- T broadcasting allows you to receive throughout Luxembourg, parts of Lorraine, in eastern Belgium, in Saarland and parts of Rhineland -Palatinate ( Trier area, Eifel, Mosel Hunsrück). A reception via cable is not possible in Germany because Germany is not cable feeding this station despite a good terrestrial reception into the digital cable.
