Ruben of Dairinis

Rubin Dairinis († 725 ), also called Ruibin Mac Connadh, was a monk and teacher of the monastery Dairinis. In the contemporary annals, he was recognized as the leading writer in southern Ireland. Ruby is considered the first and principal author of the Collectio Canonum Hibernensis, the most important collection of early medieval canon law. Since the second of these author, Cú Chuimne, much longer lived and two different editors of the work came into circulation, is partially assumed that the older version of Ruby was written and the later revisions and additions are due to Cú Chuimne. Other works by him are known.
