Private life

Ruben Santiago -Hudson, was born in 1956 in Lackawanna in upstate New York, the son of Alean Hudson and Ruben Santiago, a railwayman. His father was Puerto Rican and his mother was African American. He attended Lackawanna High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and his master's degree at Wayne State University.

He is married to Jeannie Brittan and has two children from a previous relationship.

Career

His first film appearance was Ruben 1988 in Comedy Coming to America with Eddie Murphy. This was followed by a guest appearances on several television series, such as All right, Corky, My Dear John, New York Cops - NYPD Blue, Gargoyles - On the Wings of Justice and New York Undercover. From 1997 to 1999 he gave in the animated series Spawn character Jess Chapel his voice. 1999 each was followed by a guest appearance on The West Wing - The West Wing and Third Watch - use the limit. In 2001 he wrote the autobiografiesche play Lackawanna Blues, which was adapted in 2005 by HBO as a TV movie. The adaptation earned him a Humanitas Prize, a Christopher Award, and one each nominated for a Writers Guild of America and the Emmy.

On Broadway, he played with in the musical Jelly 's Last Jam and in the drama Seven Guitars by August Wilson. The latter earned him the 1996 Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor.

From 2009 to 2011, he starred as Captain Roy Montgomery in the ABC crime series Castle Nathan Fillion and Stana next Katić. In 2013 he had a starring role as Charles Dawson in the first and only season of the AMC series Low Winter Sun.
