Rubric

The term derives from the Latin word headings rubrum, red ' off and referred to in the liturgical books instructions for the liturgy. For better distinction of the liturgical prayers and texts and highlighting these are written or printed in red.

Section is also an old name for a headline, written in red. Likewise, written in red initials of medieval manuscripts are called rubrics. They were used for jewelry and the structure of the text ( see: Rubrizierung ).
