Ruby Bridges

Ruby Bridges ( born September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi) is an American civil rights activist.

Life

Ruby Bridges was founded in 1960 as the first black child in Louisiana enrolled in a white school against considerable resistance of the white population. The movie Ruby Bridges deals with the circumstances of this incident. Also the picture of the painter Norman Rockwell The Problem We All Live With vividly shows the situation of the then six- year-old girl.

Ruby Bridges Ruby Bridges Hall called today and lives in New Orleans. She is Chair of the 'Ruby Bridges Foundation ', which she founded in 1995.
