Rucava

Rucava ( German Rutzau ) is the most south-westerly town of Latvia in the Baltic Sea and the Lithuanian border.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1253, when the area of the cures was divided between the Teutonic Order and the Bishop of Courland. The Good Rutzau was in the 17th century Krongebiet of the Dukes of Courland. The village was built on the coaching of the estate, where the road from Libau to Memel skirted.
