Ruda, Friuli

Ruda ( in furlanischen dialect Rude ) is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2975 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Udine in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The municipality is situated approximately 28 km south-southeast of Udine and is immediately adjacent to the east by the province of Gorizia. The border is the Isonzo.

History

The founding Rudas ( originally probably Riuda ) is estimated to have the 7th or 8th century. First destroyed by the Hungarians, the church was built by the Crusaders again. The community was until the end of World War I part of the county of Gorizia and Gradisca, where she was placed under the jurisdiction Cervignano, which in turn was part of the district Monfalcone.
