Rudi Cerne

Rudolf " Rudi " Cerne ( born September 26, 1958 in Wanne- Eickel, now Herne-Wanne ) is a sports journalist, television presenter and former German figure skater, who started in a single run.

Sports Career

Rudi Cerne started as a figure skater for the last Herner EV. His coach was Günter Zöller.

1978 and 1980 won the Cerne German Figure Skating Championships. He celebrated his biggest international success in 1984 by winning the silver medal at the European Championships in Budapest. In the same year he also reached his best result at the World Championships. In Ottawa, he finished fifth. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo, he missed fourth barely a medal. After the season ended Cerne his active career as a competitive athlete and was a professional with Holiday on Ice. In parallel, he began training as a figure skating coach, he dropped out to devote himself to television journalism.

TV career

Through various internships Cerne came to television journalism and became a freelancer for WDR and HR. He reported live for ARD of Figure Skating events and dance competitions. On December 27, 1978 Cerne was confused and arrested at Dusseldorf airport with the warrant of arrest terrorists Christian Klar.
