Rudi Dornbusch

Rudiger " Rudi " Dornbusch ( born June 8, 1942 in Krefeld, † July 25, 2002 in Washington, DC ) was a German - American economist.

Life

Rudi Dornbusch completed his education at the traditional high school at Moltkeplatz in Krefeld. After studying at the University of Geneva ( MA in Economics, 1966) and made in 1971 at the University of Chicago his Ph.D. in economics. He taught at the University of Rochester, Chicago and MIT.

He played a decisive role in shaping the modern international economics. So in 1976 the Association of purchasing power parity theory he succeeded to the interest rate parity theory for the monetary exchange rate theory.

His written with Stanley Fischer textbook on macroeconomics is a major work for Freshers in economics.

Dornbusch died of cancer at the age of 60 years.
