Rudi Supek

Rudi Supek ( born April 8, 1913 in Zagreb, † January 2, 1993 ) was a Yugoslav communist prisoner in Buchenwald, a resistance fighter against National Socialism and sociologist.

Life

Rudi Supek joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. He studied philosophy at the University of Zagreb and psychology in Paris. After the German invasion of France, he was interned from 1942 to 1944 in Compiegne camp and then deported to the Buchenwald concentration camp, where he worked in the resistance as a member of the International Camp Committee (ILK ) and took off the Oath of Buchenwald. After the self-liberation of the prisoners, he was a member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and continued his studies at the Sorbonne, where he obtained his doctorate in 1952. At the University of Zagreb, he became a professor of psychology from 1963 he founded the Department of Sociology at the University of Zagreb.

He was chief editor of the published in the years 1952-1954 Journal Pogledi (views); In 1964 he founded with other professors of the University of Zagreb in the journal practice and organized the summer school practice group.

After his death he was buried in the Mirogoj cemetery in Zagreb.
