Rudolf Firkušný

Firkušný Rudolf ( born February 11, 1912 in Napajedla, Moravia, † July 19, 1994 in Staatsburg, New York) was a Czech pianist.

Firkušný was as a five year old a student of Leoš Janáček and entered at the age of eight years in Prague, with ten years he played Mozart's Coronation Concerto with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1931 he first met Bohuslav Martinů. His friendship with the musician had even after leaving his homeland in 1939 after the German invasion of Czechoslovakia inventory. He lived many years in France (Paris, Aix -en- Provence, Marseille) and in the USA. In 1948 he left Czechoslovakia again and moved to the United States. In 1971 he lived in Lucerne and taught Viera Janárceková.

Rudolf Firkušný deemed to be profiled Janáček artist, whose complete works for piano he recorded several times. In addition, he was awarded for his recording of the piano works of Bohuslav Martinů 's Grammy Award.
