Rudolf Karsch

Rudolf Karsch (born 26 December 1913 in Leipzig, † December 11, 1950 ) was a German racing cyclist. In 1936, he won an Olympic bronze medal in the time trial.

Karsch launched for the R. C. Wettin in Leipzig and trained with Joseph Weyand. At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, he finished in third place behind 1:13,2 minutes Dutchman Arie van Vliet and the Frenchman Pierre Georget; Karsch was the first German Olympic medalist in the time trial. With the demolition of the Leipzig Velodrome 1938, Karsch training opportunities restricted significantly; after a serious fall 1939 in Riesa, he finished his career.

1950 tried the machinist a comeback as a train driver. Karsch died in December 1950 under mysterious circumstances, as in his apartment exhaled gas.
