Rudolf Kraj

Rudolf Kraj ( born December 5, 1977 in Melnik, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech boxer.

Amateur

Kraj won as an amateur boxer 170 of 200 fights. In 1997 he took first at the world championships, but different in the middleweight ( - 75kg) starting in the first fight against Dirk Eigenbrodt, Germany ( 4:4 ), and the following year he reached the quarter- finals of the European Championships, lost it, however, against Dmitriy Strelchinin, Russia ( 6:1). At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he surprisingly won the silver medal in the light heavyweight ( 81kg - ). He won it against Olanda Anderson, USA ( 13:12 ), Albert Jegbefumer, Nigeria ( 8:7 ), and Andrij Fedtschuk, Ukraine ( 11:7 ), and lost the final against Russian Alexander Lebsiak.

2002 different Krai at the European Championships in the first fight against Juha Ruokola, Finland (17:12 ) from, but was at the 2003 World Championships after victories over Tino Gross, Germany ( 20:8 ), Mohamed Akli Amari, Algeria (RSC 2. ), and Ahmed Ismail, Egypt ( 25:14 ), the semi-finals, which he against Yevgeny Makarenko, Russia ( 23:19 ), lost and thus won the bronze medal.

His last international championships contested Kraij at the 2004 European Championships, but where he lost in the first fight.

Professional

He was at the Hamburg boxing stable Spotlight Boxing professional cruiserweight 2005. After all, he won his first 14 fights, he finally got to box on October 24, 2008, the chance for the vacant world title the WBC. His opponent in this fight was the Italian Giacobbe Fragomeni. After Kraj his opponent in the seventh round inflicted a " Cut", the fight in the eighth round had to be canceled and dotted. Fragomeni won this fight by a unanimous point decision.
