Rudolf Nebel

Rudolf Nebel ( born March 21, 1894 in White Castle in Bavaria, † September 18, 1978 in Dusseldorf ) was rocket designer and founder of the world's first rocket airfield in Berlin. He is regarded as one of the founding fathers of the space.

Life

The interrupted by his participation in the First World War Studies at the Technical University in Munich closed fog 1919 as a graduate engineer from and was then chief engineer at Siemens. From 1923 to 1927 he was a partner in a fireworks factory in Pulsnitz, then worked again at Siemens & Halske and had since 1930 been an independent rocket scientist. Johannes Winkler founded in 1927 with the other association for space travel in Wroclaw. Fog was added in 1929 when the club moved its activities to Berlin. There, gathered in the aftermath many pioneers of rocketry and astronautics. Fog was one of the pioneers of rocketry, built in 1929 together with Hermann Oberth, the first liquid-fueled rocket as propaganda rocket for the film directed by Fritz Lang Woman in the Moon ( book by his wife Thea von Harbou ) and presented in 1930 at the Berlin Technical Institute his first rocket engine before. In the same year he founded the missile Tegel Airport in Berlin- Reinickendorf where he developed important fundamentals of rocketry, among others, Klaus Riedel, Heinisch Kurt and Wernher von Braun, and was co-founder of the International Research Society Panterra. 1934 arrested in connection with the Röhm - Putsch, and excluded from any rocket development for life, founded an engineering office mist. After 1945 he devoted himself to lecturing, fought unsuccessfully for compensation and recognition, and was from 1963 to 1965 a research associate of the Society for Space Research in Bad Godesberg. Fog wrote among other things the book rocket flight from the year 1932. 1972 he published his autobiography, The fools of Tegel. A pioneer of astronautics told. In addition, Rudolf Nebel was active since his student days at the Corps Cisaria in Munich and stayed there all his life member.

Honors

In his birthplace White Castle, a street was named after him. Also in White Castle should be renamed Rudolf- fog -Realschule 1969, Staatliche Realschule, but this was not pursued further by the Bavarian Ministry of Culture, because schools may not be named after living persons.
