Rudolf Petersson

Rudolf Petersson ( born June 17, 1896 in Halmstad, † April 17, 1970 in Enhörna ) was a Swedish cartoonist and comic book artist.

Life

At the age of 17 years Petersson first published cartoons. From 1915 to 1918 he attended the Art Academy Valand in Gothenburg, where he primarily engaged in painting. In 1921 he emigrated to the United States. There he earned his money with illustration drawings for newspapers. In 1931 he returned, now married, returned to Sweden. From 1936 to 1939 he worked for the Disney Studios, in particular on the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio.

In memory of his time in the military in Halland Petersson developed the figure of 91 recruits: at. This comic figure soon became the famous recruit throughout Sweden. Until the death of his wife in 1959 drew the Petersson 91: in comic books; Thereafter, the series of other subscribers was continued. Petersson started drinking as a widower and lived a very secluded life in his last years. He died just days after his childhood friend and brother Gustaf Tenggren.
