Rudolph Bay

David Vilhelm Rudolph Bay ( born July 9, 1791 in Copenhagen, † May 25, 1856 ) was a Danish composer.

Bay lived from 1813 to 1831 as secretary Consulate in Algiers. After that, he was Royal chamber musician and since 1834 also a cantor in Copenhagen. Bay is considered the first in a Danish independent music.

He composed a Singspiel and romances and songs, which are strongly influenced by the Danish folk music.
