The Abbey Sainte -Colombe in Sens was founded in 620 by the Merovingian king Clotaire II over the grave of the holy Columba of Sens, who lived in the 3rd century in Sens, and whose worship is attested since the 6th century. The abbey church was destroyed in 1792, the relics were scattered there. At the same place the Chapelle de l' Immaculée Conception ( Chapel of the Immaculate Conception) was built in the 19th century.
