Rudolph Reti

Rudolph Reti ( born November 27, 1885 in Užice, † February 7, 1957 in New Jersey ) was a composer, pianist, music teacher and publisher employee. He was the older brother of the Chess Grand Master Richard Réti, but unlike his brother, he wrote his last name without acute.

Life

Reti lived since his school years in Vienna, where he co-founded in 1922 by the International Society for Contemporary Music. After emigrating to the United States during the Nazi period he wrote his seminal works "Thematic Process in Music" (1951) and "Patterns in Sonatas of Beethoven" ( 1966). They influenced many music theorists.
