Rudy Linka

Rudy Linka (* May 29, 1960 in Prague) is a Czech- American guitarist of modern jazz.

Life and work

Linka studied at the Prague Conservatory classical guitar and came through Karel Velebný to jazz. In 1979 he emigrated first to Germany, before he lived in Sweden since 1980. There he continued his studies and often appeared with Red Mitchell. This gives, he moved in 1984 to the Berklee College of Music in 1985 to New York City to draw and to retrain from 1986 with John Abercrombie and Jim Hall. Abercrombie could also be heard on his debut album. In a duo with George Mraz and with his own groups, he entered from the early 1990s at international festivals ( Prague 1991, 1993 ), Sheppholms (1992 ) on. He also played with Bob Mintzer, Michael Formanek, Gil Goldstein, Miles Evans and Adam Nussbaum.

He also worked as a professor at Berklee College and the Conservatory of Milwaukee.
