Rufius Gennadius Probus Orestes

Rufius Gennadius Probus Orestes was a Roman patrician and consul in 530

Orestes was probably a son of the consul of 502, the Rufius Magnus Faustus Avienus said. He fled on December 17, 546 with other Patricii in St. Peter's Basilica, as the Ostrogothic king Totila conquered Rome. Orestes was then placed with other senators of Totila to southern Italy. At the conquest of Acherontis at the boundary between Lucania and Calabria, he met in the summer of 547, together with the Byzantine commander John, and was sent to the Senators present there to Sicily.
