Rufus Sewell

Rufus Sewell Frederick ( born October 29, 1967 in Twickenham, Greater London, England ) is a British actor.

Career

Rufus Sewell completed his training as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. His theater debut was in 1992 in the play Making It Better, for which he was awarded in 1992 at the London Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for Best Newcomer. His role in Tom Stoppard 's play Arcadia earned him a first nomination for an Olivier Award. He also played on Broadway, where he received the Broadway Theater World Award for his role in translation.

On the big screen, he starred in Don Boyd's Twenty-One in 1991. However, audiences and critics he could do until 1994 when Will Ladislaw in the BBC miniseries based on the novel Middlemarch by George Eliot 's attention. In the following years, Sewell appeared in numerous British television productions and films with historical material. For his portrayal of Charles II, he earned a lot of praise for the role of Petruchio in a modern recasting of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, he was nominated at the 2006 British Academy Television Awards for Best Actor. Sewell turned with renowned directors such as John Schlesinger, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Apted. In 1998 he played the title role in Alex Proyas ' science fiction film Dark City. In 2000, he was the prophecy and 2001 as Count Adhemar of Anjou in Brian Helgeland's A Knight's Tale also present in Chuck Russell's in the movies. Sewell 2008 belonged to the performer ranks of multi-award -winning HBO miniseries John Adams - Freedom for America. In the American television series Eleventh Hour - use at the last second he was most recently seen as Dr. Jacob Hood.

Although Rufus Sewell sees his acting in movies home, he is more regularly on stage. In 2006, he won in London in Tom Stoppard musical theater Rock'n'Roll and won for his role the Critics' Circle Theatre Award, the Evening Standard Award and the award for Best Actor at the Laurence Olivier Awards 2007.

Rufus Sewell was with Amy Gardner, with whom he has a son who married in second marriage.
