Rugila

Rua (also Ruga ) was from about 425 to 434/435 ruler of the Huns. He was an uncle (according to other sources the father) Bledas and Attila.

First, Rua divided the rule with his brother Oktar, after his death in 430 Rua took over the lead on the majority of the Huns in the Balkans. 432 the Roman army master Aetius fled to him; this could take over with Ruas help the lead in the West realm, what Aëtius Pannonia ceded to the Huns. Ruas sphere was not clear cut, but he aimed apparently already on the formation of a Hunnish empire from where he specifically extorted money from Ostrom. The circumstances of his death are not entirely clear, perhaps his nephews were involved.
