Ruislip-Northwood Urban District

The Ruislip - Northwood Urban District was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1904 to 1965 and was in the northwest of the former county of Middlesex.

History

The establishment of the district was carried out on 30 September 1904. It was created by the separation of the civil parish Ruislip, who had previously been part of the Uxbridge Rural District. The Civil parish had the villages Ruislip Manor, South Ruislip, Eastcote and Northwood covers. After the opening of a branch line of the Metropolitan Railway in the same year the new district recorded a sharp increase in the number of inhabitants. Especially great was the growth in the 1930s, when the area was marketed specifically under the name Metro -land.

With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965 was created from the merger of the Municipal Borough of Uxbridge and the Urban Districts Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip - Northwood and Yiewsley and West Drayton London Borough of Hillingdon.
