Ruislip tube station

Ruislip is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 6 on West End Road. The area served by the Metropolitan Line and the Piccadilly Line station was used in 2011 of 1.57 million passengers.

The route of the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line) between Harrow-on- the-Hill and Uxbridge was opened on July 4, 1904 and electrified, six months later. At that time, Ruislip, the only intermediate station; more stations on these routes emerged only over time as the need arises, as the area was still dominated pronounced rural and the population density was very low. As of March 1, 1910 stopped here also trains the Metropolitan District Railway (now the District Line ); these were replaced on 23 October 1933, those of the Piccadilly Line.

The station building stands since 2000 together with footbridge and signal box listed building (Grade II). The ensemble is considered the best preserved example of rural stations of the Metropolitan Railway.
