History

In the two years since the release of the last album the relationships within the band had become a bit difficult. Mick Fleetwood left his wife Jenny. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, who had a relationship when they joined the group, also parted, just as John and Christine McVie, although all five remained in the band. This meant, as Stevie Nicks later expounded that people who normally played no role in the lives of others, many hours and hard times experienced together. Christine McVie later remarked that they each wrote each about themselves, hence the title of the album. They noticed it immediately, but when they realized eventually that they had created such a remarkable album together, this gave them the boost they needed to escape their misery.

Nicks held the written piece of Buckingham Go Your Own Way for a grim allusion to the separation of these foreseeable cast and she and Buckingham were discussing. Dreams was her attempt to be more optimistic. You Make Loving Fun referring to an affair between Christine McVie and the conductive lighting of the group. Gold Dust Woman was an allusion to cocaine. Do not Stop was written by Christine McVie, after her divorce from John McVie, and gave an optimistic outlook on their newly separated lives. Oh Daddy was very likely a reference to Mick Fleetwood, the spiritual father of the group that held them mostly, and also at this time the only one in the band who was actually father. Songbird was described by Christine McVie as "a little hymn ," which was intended for " all of us". The recordings lasted very long, as it should be a continuous recording. The Chain was a special feature. The last part, about the last one and a quarter minutes, was first written, without that there was a title from which it would have the end may be. Stevie Nicks had written this part alone and " gave him the other," she said. Then Lindsey Buckingham had an idea how it should start and the first part was again taken up.

1978 Rumours won a Grammy for Album of the Year in 1977 and stayed 31 weeks at the top of the Billboard Music Charts. By 2003, the album had sold in the U.S. alone more than 19 million copies and was awarded by the RIAA as the third - best-selling album of all time consisting of a disc.

In the 1990s, the title Songbird by Eva Cassidy, an American singer who is quite popular in the UK, was gecovert. Your version was very well known there.

In 2006, the readers of the magazine Q Rumours selected at No. 68 of the greatest albums of all time; In 2001 it was ranked number 16 of the television station VH1. In 2003, the album was ranked number 25 of the list of the 500 greatest albums of all time Rolling Stone magazine.
