Criticism

RBI are traditionally viewed as very important statistic that very fact shows that they are one of the three key criteria for the Triple Crown. In addition, the RBI total achieved a playing career are often used as a decision feature, if a player enters the Hall of Fame.

Critics - especially from the Sabermetrics field - say, however, that the number of RBI was more about the quality of the team's formation, provide information about the individual performance of a player. The reason given is that a player can get only counted one RBI, if one or more players have already reached the bases in front of him (the only exception is a solo homerun is where the batsman scored only one RBI for yourself). It is concluded that teams generally produce a strong offensive lineup more players with high RBI values than is the case with offensive weaker teams.
