Rúnar Sigtryggsson

Rúnar Sigtryggsson ( born April 7, 1972 in Hafnarfjörður or Akureyri ) is an Icelandic handball coach and former handball player.

Career

Rúnar Sigtryggsson played in the second handball league at Frisch Auf Göppingen. In 2000 he moved to Haukar Hafnarfjörður, with whom he was Icelandic Champion. In 2002, the 1.94 meter tall and 95 kilogram left back player went in the Spanish league ASOBAL to BM Ciudad Real, with whom he won the 2003 Spanish Cup competition, and the European Cup Winners' Cup. Then he returned to Germany and joined the Bundesliga side SG Wallau mass home. A year later, he joined the second division ThSV Eisenach, where he worked after the dismissal of the coach Zlatko feric as player-coach.

Since 2012 he is coach of second division club EHV Aue.

Rúnar Sigtryggsson played 118 matches with the Icelandic National Team, in which he scored 105 goals. With Iceland, he participated in the 2004 Olympics, but he scored four goals in six inserts.

Others

Rúnar Sigtryggsson is married and has three children. His younger brother, Árni Þór Sigtryggsson and his son Sigtryggur Daði Rúnarsson also play handball, both are trained during EHV Aue from him.
