Rüningen is a neighborhood and municipality in the south of the city of Braunschweig. The municipality has the official number 224

Neighboring towns Rüningens are the Garden City to the west and Broitzem Geitelde, in the east and in the south Stöckheim Leif earth and Thiede in the north.

History

Rüningen is documented as " Riungi " in the 8th century. Naming is Rüningen as part of a donation by the Saxon princes Odiltag and his wife Wentelsuint to the monastery of Fulda in 780, where twenty of the goods Liergaus are mentioned, including Riungi ( = Rüningen ).

Coat of arms

Blazon: " Over blue sign foot with a silver under half a mill wheel in silver a red tower with timber floor, both on the pitch".

The coat of arms is divided horizontally and displays at the top of a red tower with three windows and timbered in the top on a white field. This symbolizes the Rüninger defensive tower. In the sign above a capped white Wassermühlrad is on a blue background. This Represents the Rüninger mill.

Arnold Rabbow the coat of arms designed, it was adopted on 24 September 1964 by the council and approved by the Administrative President of Brunswick on December 6, 1964.

Infrastructure

Rüningen has over the B 248 direct access to the A391 and is located approximately 500 meters south of the motorway junction Braunschweig -south. Additional information is found along the country roads Leif earth Broitzem and Geitelde of unilateral biking trails.

Since 1838 Rüningen lies on the railway line Brunswick- Bad Harzburg. The former station was southeast of the railroad crossing at the Berkenbusch road where there is a parking lot today.
