Runway Visual Range

Runway Visual Range ( RVR, dt " Visibility on the runway " ) available in the aviation meteorology, the distance at about the see a pilot of an aircraft on the center line of the start or runway markings to limit the train or the center line can. Runway Visual Range is expressed in feet or meters. The RVR must be specified only up to a visibility of 1,500 meters; with views over 2,000 m RVR specifying RVR2000 is always reported.

RVR is an important criterion for minimum instrument approach and depart. The RVR, as published in the AIP must at least be present, otherwise is not the instrument approach or departure feasible. The RVR is either METAR, standardized, short weather reports of the airfields, published or transmitted to aircraft by radio, located in the approach or to start on an airfield.

RVR is measured instrumentally with so-called transmissometers which determine the minima after the extinction law.
