Rupert Hine

Rupert Hine ( Hine Rupert Neville, born September 21, 1947 in Wimbledon ) is a British rock musician and record producer.

Life and career

After a few successful first single, which he (later David MacIver ) recorded in 1965, at that time along with David Robinson, his first success with the 1971 released album Pick up a bone on which Roger Glover as producer and bassist succeeded was involved.

In 1973, he produced not only his second album Unfinished Picture to express advice of Roger Glover, but also the first time the album of another artist ( Yvonne Elliman ), and thus began his parallel career as a producer.

As a producer later of ( among others ) The Fixx, Saga, Rush, Howard Jones, Chris de Burgh and Tina Turner he has thus contributed in the background to the success and development of many other musicians and bands.

In 1975 he formed together with Trevor Morais and John G. Perry the formation Quantum Jump with its own jazz - rock sound. The title The Lone Ranger from the first album, which was much later released as a single became known.

A completely new direction is reflected in the solo work from 1981. Immunity was Rupert Hines most successful solo album. What can be superficially perceived as synth pop, is in reality a musically and lyrically highly complex work of art in which a fruitful collaboration with the poet Jeannette Obstoj unfolded. Almost all the lyrics of his later solo works sprang from her pen.

After Waving not drowning was already no longer commercially very successful, Rupert Hine decided to make a new start with the group Thinkman. This band has never really existed: The live performances were by actors who acted to playback and fictional musicians represented, contested. The main theme of the songs of The Formula - mass media and manipulation - as manifested in the project itself

So are ultimately the albums of Thinkman episode pure solo albums.

At the time of Thinkman episode, there was also the productions of Underworld albums Underneath the Radar and Change the Weather. 1994 were reversed Rick Smith and Karl Hyde of Underworld co-producers of The Deep End, Hines 's last work so far.
