Ruschein

Ruschein ( [ ʁuʒɛɪ̯n ]? / I ) until December 31, 2013 at Illanz municipality in the district of Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 merged with the former municipalities Ruschein Castrisch, Duvin, Ilanz, Ladir, luffing, Pigniu, Pitasch, Riein, Rueun, Schnaus, Sevgein, Siat the new community Ilanz / Glion.

Geography

The municipality is located on a terrace north of Ilanz on the left side of the Anterior Rhine and reaches up to an altitude of 1900 m above sea level. M.. Ruschein Above is the village of Ladir. Both communities have a stake in the preliminary glacier.

Of the total municipal area of 1254 ha 540 ha is arable, 445 acres but only as mountain pastures. According to the mountainous character of the community, there are also 354 hectares of unproductive area. Woods and forests cover more 323 ha remaining 37 ha settlement area.

On the territory Rusch One is the special forest reserve Plontabuora.

History

On a rocky ridge from Verrucano ( rock, Perm ), the "Crest since Ruschein ", also called " Pleun because Buora " ( or " Plontabuora " reshaped ) in the west Rusch One, Bronze Age remains have been found.

In the upcoming Verrucanofels on the hilltop numerous larger and smaller shells were incorporated ( scaluttas d' unfrenda ). 1965 excavations at a 19 cm long bronze pin, various pieces of pottery and ruins of a fortified settlement from the period was found around 1500-1200 BC. West of the moat of the castle ruins is the " altar stone ". On the south-facing slope provides further edited hump of rock, such as the mysterious " oracle stone ". The Foundation Ruina because Frundsbergstrasse organized in the summer regularly guided tours all over the rocky ridge on which lies the ruins of the castle mountain woman.

Population

Of the 356 residents of 341 Swiss nationals were ( end of 2004). It is spoken Sursilvan.
