Ruskov

Ruskov (Hungarian Regeteruszka ) is a municipality in the southeastern Slovakia.

The community Ruskov is about 15 kilometers east of Kosice in a right tributary of the Olšava, a 50 km long tributary of the Hornád. To the east of the mountain range Ruskov Slanské Hills rises with the 856 meter high Bogota. The mountain incision between Ruskov and Slanec with a summit of 330 meters, is used by the single railway track that leads over the mountains. Southwest of the community, the wide Hornádtal extends as part of the basin Košická kotlina.

By Ruskov performs the highway 576 of Bohdanovce about Bidovce to Vranov nad Topľou. The station of the municipality lies on the railway line Ruskov Kosice Michalovce and Košice - Chop ( Ukraine). Past leader parallel to the railroad track in Ukraine and so on Ruskov is the broad gauge route Uzhgorod - Košice, which was built for the transport of iron ore in the steel plant Haniska.

East of the community andesite is mined in a quarry.

The place Ruskov was first mentioned in 1204. The Roman Catholic church was built in 1938.

The population of the municipality Ruskov consists of almost 98 % Slovak. 80 % of the population profess the Roman Catholic Church.
