Russell Banks

Russell Banks ( born March 28, 1940 in Newton, Massachusetts) is an American writer.

Works

His first short story collection Searching for Survivors and Family Life, his first novel was published in 1975. Since then, another four collections of short stories and nine novels published. The two novels Affliction and The Sweet Hereafter was filmed.

A recurrent theme in Russell Banks are political and historical circumstances.

Particularly striking are Banks ' strong characters, such as the all-powerful father figure in Cloud Splitter or ajar to Mark Twain 's Huckleberry Finn Chappie from Rule of the Bone.
