Russell Malone

Russell Malone ( born November 8, 1963 in Albany, Georgia) is an American guitarist of modern jazz.

Malone, who comes from a religious family, gained his first game experience with the gospel in the church and then played in rhythm and blues bands. He worked with Eddie " Cleanhead " Vinson and from 1988, in Jimmy Smith before he served several years the big band of Harry Connick from 1990. In 1992, he played his debut album " Russell Malone " one on which accompanied him Milt Hinton. In 1994 he presented his quartet in Europe and Asia. He starred in the feature film Kansas City (1996 ) with. In the next few years he worked mainly in the groups of Diana Krall and Benny Green. In 2001, he toured in a trio of Monty Alexander and Ray Brown, next year with Benny Green. He participated also on recordings by Roy Hargrove, Gary Bartz, Stephen Scott, Etta James and Don Braden and performed in a trio with Ron Carter and Mulgrew Miller and 2008-2009 also in a duo with Bill Frisell.
