Russell Sage College

The Russell Sage College ( RSC) is an American college for women in the historic district of Troy, New York. The RSC offers both free artistic and vocational programs, and is one of the three Sage Colleges.

History

The Russell Sage College in collaboration with Eliza Kellas established by the suffragette Olivia Sage, 1916, in Troy, and after her late husband, the railroad tycoon and politician Russell Sage, named. The company's goal was the establishment of a school of practical arts, which would give women the means to achieve economic and social self-sufficiency by preparing professional careers. The Russell Sage College has since been financially supported by the founded by Olivia Slocum Sage Russell Sage Foundation.

General

The Russell Sage College is home to over 800 undergraduate students on completion of which more than 60 percent after graduating from the RSC her graduate studies and a master's degree can be obtained. The RSC offers a total of 29 main courses, as well as pre-professional programs in law and medicine. The basketball team of the RSC plays in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA). The average tuition is USD 28,000.
