Russian American Line

The Russian American Line (Russian Русско - американской линии ) was a Russian shipping company based in Libau, which existed from 1900 to 1917.

History

The Russian American Line was founded in 1900 by the Danish trading company Det Østasiatiske Kompagni (East Asiatic Company ) founded with its headquarters in Copenhagen to create a basis for trade between Russia and the Far East. After the Russo -Japanese War, the Holland- America Line large proportions of the Russian American Line, which in 1906 led to a joint service of Libau via Rotterdam to New York acquired.

After the February Revolution of 1917 the shipping company closed its service and the ships were sold, mainly to the Baltic America Line.
