The Russian Heavy Draft Russian or Ardennes is a cold-blooded breed of horses whose breeding origins in Russia.

Exterior

  • Head: appealing, long ears, small eyes
  • Withers: low
  • Neck: thick, short, muscular, much mane
  • Chest: wide
  • Back: wide and slightly soft

Interior

Breeding history

The beginning of the breeding of this breed is about at the beginning of the 20th century. Especially the Ardennes and Brabant, but also the Percheron as well as Swedish and Belgian draft horse mares were used as basis. To improve the breed characteristics and the Orlov Trotter served.
