Russian Heavy Draft
The Russian Heavy Draft Russian or Ardennes is a cold-blooded breed of horses whose breeding origins in Russia.

Exterior
- Head: appealing, long ears, small eyes
- Withers: low
- Neck: thick, short, muscular, much mane
- Chest: wide
- Back: wide and slightly soft
- Building: heavy, very strong muscling
- Croup: Long, wide
- Limbs: short, strong, medium to large hooves
- Color: Permanent roan and foxes
- Size: 150-160 cm
Interior
- Character: unpretentious, precocious, hardworking
- Movement: hardworking, great traction, slow in walking and trotting
Breeding history
The beginning of the breeding of this breed is about at the beginning of the 20th century. Especially the Ardennes and Brabant, but also the Percheron as well as Swedish and Belgian draft horse mares were used as basis. To improve the breed characteristics and the Orlov Trotter served.
The primary breeding areas are Russia ( Ural ) and Ukraine. There, you use it because of its power and modesty, especially as a workhorse, but also as a source of food.
